ETG Ireland – Productivity solutions on your doorstep!

ETG Ireland installs new machining centres in its Newbridge Permanent Trade Show!

When the Engineering Technology Group (ETG) expanded its highly successful UK operations to cover all of Ireland in January 2014, it brought a refreshing new way of thinking to a traditional sector.

ETG Ireland Outside BuildingSince opening its state-of-the-art demonstration and training centre in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, ETG has achieved considerable success in supplying high end machine tools into some of Ireland’s leading manufacturers as well as establishing its software training and supply operation, spearheaded by its Mastercam agency.

In the past month the machine tools featured in the demonstration centre – now re-branded the Permanent Trade Show – have been refreshed and three new machines are installed and ready for customer appraisal.

Newly installed is a Quaser MF400 4+1 and a Hardinge Bridgeport GX 1000 and due very shortly is the highly popular Nakamura Tome AS 200.

“These are great machines that meet a variety of end user requirement but all with an emphasis on precision manufacturing coupled with high productivity” explains Director and General Manager Jamie Fletchmoore.

Not only are these machines fully operational in the facility but being situated adjacent to the ETG Training School they uniquely offer those on software training the opportunity to put their programming skills into live action via the machining centres.

As well as new machine sales ETG Ireland also offers a highly comprehensive software training facility based on its Mastercam expertise as well as ISO training for refresher courses for Fanuc and Heidenhain programming systems.

New machines in Newbridge … “it’s a family affair!”

Each of the three new machining centres installed in Newbridge represents larger families of machines that can accommodate a range of workpiece sizes and machining capabilities to fit an application.  Importantly, ETG has chosen machines that are representative of the respective ranges but there are always opportunities to ‘personalise’ a unit to suit a specific need

MACHINE PROFILE ONE:

Quaser MF 400U

The Quaser MF400 4+1 is from the MF family of 5 axis and 4+1 machines creating the opportunities for large capacity, high precision four and five axis machining at a cost well within the scope of the smaller to medium sub-contractor.alfametalmachinery_quaser_MF-400

Compact but powerful and offering great scope in production environments the MF400 has ‘big brother’ machines in the MF500 and MF630.  The designations – 400, 500 and 630 – are the maximum millimetre work piece dimension (or swing) each machine can accommodate, x 300mm diameter in each case.

A feature of all is the very high standard specification and with a start price of under £90,000 for the smallest model, the series has been described as one of the best value 5-axis ranges on the market.

Four control options are available – Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens or Mitsubishi and as standard the MF series machines are fitted with BBT40 face and taper tooling and 30 tool capacity magazines but these are upgradeable to 48 or 60 tool capacities if required.

MACHINE PROFILE TWO:

Also from an acclaimed family is the Hardinge Bridgeport GX 1000 vertical machining centre.

Superior design characteristics ensure Bridgeport 40-taper spindle GX series VMC’s deliver many years of accurate and reliable machining performance. 70001.espThere are 6 machines in the GX

family – 480, 600, 710, 1000, 1300 and 1600 with the designations relating to the X travel in each specification.

Built to last, these VMCs include a stiff and thermally-stable spindle, a rigid C-frame fixed column design, and fixed pre-tensioned double-nut ball screws on all axes. The unique Bridgeport designed linear guide and guide track configuration provides added stiffness, damping and surface contact area. The machine is configured with three guideways and five guide trucks on both the X and Y axis with two guideways and six guide trucks on the Z-axis.

MACHINE PROFILE THREE:

Nakamura-Tome AS 200

The AS 200 is a single turret mill/turn centre offering powerful milling and turning performance at a competitive cost.  This compact machine has been specifically developed with the dual capability of maximum productivity in diversified small lot batches or high volume single component manufacture.AS-200_英語20130621.indd

This is an exceptionally well specified machine with linear guideways on all axes, +/- 41mm Y-axis and a 15hp, 11kW spindle motor.

Spindle speed is a maximum of 4500rpm with the driven-tool speed 6000rpm. As standard the bar capacity is 65mm diameter, it has a 210mm (8”) chuck and 15 station tool turret.  The machine in Newbridge features a Fanuc CNC control and servo drives.
